Alongside the two standard tournaments in the first block, fans of Latin dance also got their money’s worth, thanks to the WDSF Open Youth Latin. In the well-filled hall, 50 couples competed for the coveted spots in the finals, along with the honor of walking down the red carpet from the stage to the dance floor for the finals. Four couples from Germany were granted this honor; one couple from Latvia and one from Israel rounded out the final round. In the well-attended main hall, the Latin American rhythms drew enthusiastic applause from the audience throughout all the dances, spurring the couples on to excellent performances. Two more German couples made it into the tournament’s top three. Ivan Smekalkin / Yeva Liermontova, Schwarz-Weiß-Club Pforzheim narrowly missed the silver medal by just one place, a prize that went to Ivo Kotenko / Nikole Isa from Israel. The clear winners of the tournament were Philipp Bogdanov and Seraphina Bogdanov of TSZ Diamant Düsseldorf, who, although they received mixed scores at times, ultimately won every dance and were visibly delighted to take the top spot on the podium.
